🚇 Kabatas-Mahmutbey (M7) Metro Line

The metro line is the first metro project in Türkiye designed on a BIM platform using 5D design technology. All design phases were fully developed within the BIM environment, enabling an integrated and collaborative workflow throughout the project lifecycle.

Throughout the project, significant gains were achieved in terms of both time and cost efficiency. Accurate quantity take-offs generated during the design phase helped prevent material losses and unnecessary expenditures on site, thereby minimizing project risks. A 30 % reduction in cable consumption was achieved, along with approximately 10 % savings across other MEP components.

As a result of BIM-driven decision-making during the construction phase, the originally planned construction duration of 18 months was reduced to 8.5 months, representing a substantial improvement in project delivery performance.

Duration: 2016-2022
Our Design Scope
Our team was responsible for the design of the MEP and fire protection systems for this project [Göztepe and Mahmutbey Stations, LPh 1-9]..
The entire planning phase was coordinated using BIM to ensure seamless coordination with the other disciplines.

Customer Feedback

“We worked with IBS between 2016 and 2022 on the MEP design of the Kabatas–Mahmutbey Metro Line, one of Türkiye’s first large-scale infrastructure projects to fully adopt BIM methodology. Given the innovative nature of the project, the implementation of BIM across all disciplines required a high level of technical coordination and process management.

IBS played a decisive role in managing BIM workflows and in the development of practical, cost-effective MEP system solutions. Their expertise significantly improved interdisciplinary coordination, increased design clarity, and enhanced constructability throughout the project lifecycle.

During both the design development and construction phases, IBS supported accurate cost analysis and contributed to making on-site processes more predictable and efficient. Their close collaboration with site teams ensured that the designs were implemented correctly, resulting in shorter construction timelines and measurable efficiency gains.

On behalf of both myself and our company, I would like to thank Mr. Seyit Kaplan, General Manager of IBS, for his dedication, technical expertise, and solution-driven collaboration throughout the project. We sincerely wish IBS continued success in their future endeavours.”
